First & foremost I would like to welcome our die-hard-fans & everyone here in the crowd. Greeting to our directors, business partners, advertisers & distributors. Last but not least our fellow Medias for spending your time with us to witness & kindly report the history of our comic industry today.

We still remember and it was year 2001, the moment we dream big to have our own international comic convention like Comicon in United States of America. Eventhough our business were still running small but we had a great vision to share our local comic industry with the world by organizing an international comic convention in our own land, Malaysia. We had all the paper works done and we had all the positive feedback from the international participations, but sadly we get none from the local participations.
It all passed. When we started this dream, all we had in mind was to share our talents with the public by publishing comic merchandises. Then there were second vision, creating our own comic convention we named it Malaysia Comics Carnival/MCC.
Though we failed to pursue our dream to organize an international comic convention for our local comic industry, but we didn’t give up.

We dream big but we started small so we ran our own comic convention for our own product in the same year & chose Sungei Wang Plaza as our first venue.
By the time we had it, all we hope for was to meet face to face with our die-hard-fans. They are our heart & soul whom make us success today. We never thought it would be the biggest comic event ever exists in Malaysia when we first did it. Support from our die-hard-fans was overwhelming.
Since then, MCC has become our annual grand event & Sungei Wang Plaza main concourse has become the major arena. It has also encouraged more such events being organized by the ACG (Animation, Comic & Game) industry goers all around country. This has given extra vibrant to develop awareness for this industry nationwide.
In 2005 we decided to make MCC once in 2 years. But MCC will always be our pride & of course for die-hard-fans too. Being the first & only major solo comic events ever held in Malaysia so far, we are now moving forward to a new look of this grand event.
It has been years we stuck ourselves with what we consider as Malaysia Comic Carnival. Undeniably this is for our Malaysia Comics Industry but it won’t be fair for others when what we have today are all & only about GEMPAK STARZ™.
From today (21st November 2009) until Monday (23rd November 2009), die-hard-fans all around the region are here to celebrate their most love comic label & meet their favorite comic stars. While shoppers of Sungei Wang Plaza will find themselves an awareness of Malaysia Comic Industry just by understanding what you see today at this concourse.
You may find other comic publishers in Malaysia with their great comic products, but today here at Sungai Wang Plaza KL, I present you the Malaysia’s first leading comic publisher these days with more than 200 titles of local comics & foreign translated comics (we categorized it as graphic novel), GEMPAK STARZ™ has produced more comics than any other similar publishers in the industry presently. Yet we won’t call ourselves giant of the industry. Our major purpose is to be part of everyone in what we love most; Animation, Comic & Game (ACG).
We hereby officially announce that the Malaysia Comics Carnival will be known as 100% GEMPAK STARZ™.

This was how the stage looked like before the opening ceremony. 21 character boards on stage already took their position to be autographed by their respective artist.
While Fakhrul Anour/Ayour presenting each of the comic artist on stage & stand beside their respective character board, our Cosplay with gave each one of them a silver pen for the autograph ceremony.
Once all boards were autographed, suddenly out of nowhere confetty make its own blow. A planned not everyone aware of but marked the official announcement that Malaysia Comic Carnival now will be known as 100% GEMPAK STARZ™ begin this year, 2009. 
For the first time we had the moment to have all the GEMPAK STARZ™ comic artists line up on stage for an official photograph session. To bad not everyone is here... we miss C2V & Puppeteer. >_<
How cute is Uncle Loong! While others snap pictures of him with the group, he on the other hand become one himself... a snapper! Haha! Good for you uncle... ^_^
